My Trip to the Appalachian Trail in Georgia

For spring break I went with the UNI Outdoor Recreation Program to backpack the Appalacian Trail in Georgia. It was definitely fun. On the way to Georgia we stopped to visit Mammoth Cave in Bowling Green, Kentucky. After getting done hiking we went white water rafting on the Ocoee River.

On the trail we met a few thru-hikers. Those are the hikers that plan on hike in all 2000+ miles of the Appalacian Trail. The first was Marc who has an online journal that he is updating as he goes. He was a really nice guy and he had alot of cool equipment too.

The the other thru-hiker that we met goes by the name Fiveway because he has had a 5-way bypass. He is doing his thru-hike to benefit the American Heart Association. He also has a website that he plans to update.
